Ethan’s lips were a second from touching hers when she placed her
fingers on her mouth creating a barrier and preventing the kiss he’d intended. “Hello, Ethan. Yes I did, thank you, but you really didn’t have to.”
“I wanted to.” He raised one brow. “What? No kiss hello? I thought we
were friends.”
“Acquaintances.” She spoke from behind her fingers. Since Ethan hadn’t
retreated, she didn’t dare remove the barrier between them.
“Ouch and there I was thinking we were slightly more than that.”
Heat crawled up the back of her neck. She fought to keep the
embarrassed warmth from showing up in her face, offered him her right hand in a
formal greeting to prove her point. “How nice to see you again.”
His smile was pure wickedness as he took her hand, leaned in the car,
and kissed her cheek, his light stubble brushing her skin. A blast of
electricity overcharged her body. Her breath stalled in her chest.
“Sweetheart.” The low rumble of his arousing voice vibrated next to her
ear. “We can play games if you like, but I prefer the ones I know the rules to;
the sort that has you moaning my name and begging me for more.”
