I blogged earlier this year to mention that Divorce Etiquette had been shortlisted for The Joan Hessayon New Writers’ Scheme Award. Well, the awards night is almost here. Only days now until the winner is announced. This award is organised by the Romantic Novelists' Association here in the UK, and is sponsored by Dr David Hessayon in honour of his late wife, Joan (she was a longstanding member of the RNA and a great New Writers’ Scheme supporter). The award is given to the best of the published debut novels which went through the previous year's New Writers’ appraisal scheme.
I am happy to be a nominee this year. Previous winners have gone on to recognise big success, so to win would be a great honour.
The winner will be announced at the RNA's Summer Party on 13 May in London. Sadly, I won't be able to make it. My youngest daughter will be going through another block of intensive chemo, and I can't risk being away from her in case we need to make a hospital dash. But I will be there in spirit to offer support to the other two nominees.
They are:
Georgia Hill for "Pursued by Love"
and
Lucy King for "Bought: Damsel in Distress"
Please join me in wishing these two ladies good luck :)
So exciting Monique! Huge congrats. Best of luck with the chemo too.
ReplyDeleteWow Monique - this is fantastic! Well done, I'm looking forward to seeing the results next week. Good luck with the chemo too xoxo

ReplyDeleteIt is indeed an honour to be part of the NWS--it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. Win or lose, just to be considered is fantastic!

Hi Monique,
ReplyDeleteGood luck.Fingers and toes crossed for you. Pity you can't attend, but of course, your daughter much come first, wish her good luck from me too.
Several years ago when I visited my son in England, I attended the RNA luncheon at the Savoy, it was wonderful. I sadly am no longer a member of RNA, I couldn't afford to stay in everything so as I live in Australia I reluctantly decided to relinquish my membership of RNA in favour of organizations closer to home.
Regards
Margaret
Hi, Margaret!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. I've never gotten around to attending any of the RNA's dos, but from all the wonderful photos I've seen, they appear to be very glam!
You lucky thing! You get to live in Australia. I'd love to visit your wonderful country, but hubby prefers New Zealand--I'll wear him down eventually! :)

That's wonderful news! I wish you to best, and my prayers go out to Megyn on her upcoming treatment.
ReplyDeleteHey Monique,
ReplyDeleteI have everything crossed for you. Best of luck!
Shame you can't attend. Hope Meg's treatment is successful. Thinking of you and your family.
Take care,
Cathie xxx
Thank you, Chicki!
ReplyDeleteAll the prayers really help.
