Dish The Pie With Monique & Guest Peggy Jaeger: Chocolate Mousse-to-die-for & 3 Wishes #CandyHeartsRomance #TWRP

Dish The Pie With Monique & Peggy Jaeger

Today my guest on Dish The Pie is Peggy Jaeger, a fellow Candy Hearts author. We're talking about her new Candy Hearts story 3 Wishes, which is released today!  and Chocolate Mousse-to-die-for. Happy release day, Peggy, and welcome to Dish The Pie. The first thing I'd like to know is...

Do you like desserts? What is your favourite and would you share the recipe with us?

Peggy: Does Candy count as dessert? If so, then yes I do! My favourite has no recipe – it’s a Hershey’s kiss!

Monique: Hmmm... I guess dessert is whatever we deem it to be . But please tell me you have a lovely dessert recipe for us. Ah, I see that you do:
Chocolate Mousse-to-die-for!

Ingredients

Photo: Peggy Jaeger
21 chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup heavy cream
1 (12 ounce) package semisweet chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 pinch salt
2 cups heavy cream
1/4 cup white sugar
1 cup heavy cream, chilled
1/4 cup white sugar

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (Grease a 9 inch springform pan with 2 3/4 inch sides.

2. In a medium bowl, mix together crushed cookies and softened butter or margarine. Press mixture evenly into greased pan. Bake for 5 minutes, then cool.

3. Combine 1 cup cream, chocolate, vanilla extract, and salt, in the top of a double boiler. Heat until chocolate is fully melted and mixture is smooth. Bring 1 cup cream to a boil on stovetop, then slowly pour cream into processor with blade running. Continue to process until mixture is smooth.

4. Pour chocolate mixture into a bowl and cool to room temperature, stirring occasionally.

5. In a large bowl, beat 2 cups chilled cream with 1/4 cup

sugar. Beat until stiff peaks form. Fold whipped cream into chocolate mixture. Pour mixture into cooled crust.

6. Chill pie overnight before serving. Prior to serving, beat remaining 1 cup cream with 1/4 cup sugar until stiff, then pipe onto top of pie with a star tip, or place a spoonful on top of each slice.

Monique: Have you ever eaten pie for breakfast, Peggy? If so, what was it?

Peggy:  Nope, sorry. I’m not a pie girl.

Monique: Fair enough. Which season (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter) is your favourite and why?

Peggy: I favour Autumn the best. I live in the North East of America, New England to be precise, and we have the most amazing Autumn season. The colors start to turn from green to red to orange to yellow in a patchwork of gorgeousness in September and go straight through until November. We have a cottage industry in these parts called LEAF PEEPING SEASON where tourists come from all over the world to get a view of the beauty that is our region.

Monique: Sounds delightful. Are you married? How did you meet your husband? How did he propose? How long have you been together?

Peggy: I am married. Dec. 26th it was 28 years. We met over a patient who was getting a urinary catheter inserted – hubby is a doc and I am a nurse! Not the most romantic way to meet your future partner, but hey! It worked for us.

Monique: Awww... What do you love most about him?

Peggy: Truly, he is one of the kindest human beings I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.

Monique: What is your concept of a romantic date?

Peggy: I’ll tell you about our first date because it sealed the deal for our relationship. We flew to Boston from NYC for the day. I’d never been on a plane before so that alone was exciting for me. We toured the historic city, had dinner in the famed North End and then flew back to NYC because he was on call the next night. Such a whirlwind in 15 hours! From that moment on I knew he was a man after my own adventurous heart.

Monique: How utterly romantic, Peggy! Sounds like something straight out of a romance novel! Speaking of romance novels, would you tell us a bit about your new release?

3 Wishes
A Candy Hearts Romance

Valentine’s Day is chocolatier Chloe San Valentino’s favorite day of the year. Not only is it the busiest day in her candy shop, Caramelle de Chloe, but it’s also her birthday. Chloe’s got a birthday wish list for the perfect man she pulls out every year: he’d fall in love with her in a heartbeat, he’d be someone who cares about people, and he’d have one blue eye and one green eye, just like her. So far, Chloe’s fantasy man hasn’t materialized, despite the matchmaking efforts of her big, close-knit Italian family. But this year for her big 3-0 birthday, she just might get her three wishes.

At about five minutes of ten I was almost ready to turn the Closed sign on the door when it opened. I heard Janie’s breath hitch and turned from where I was sweeping up. Staying open late is always a risk, with the thought thieves will invade at the end of the day.
If the guy standing at the door glancing around the shop was a thief, then Dio mio, I wanted to be robbed.
About six foot, his hair was the color of a deer’s pelt, with autumnal golds and browns shot together in a glorious patchwork that grazed the collar of his jacket and curled a little at the ends. He wore a faded brown bomber jacket over a shirt I couldn’t see, but he had shoulders almost as wide as my doorway. A pair of well-worn jeans covered his mile long legs, and the fabric on the stress points at his knees was practically white.
“We’re about to close,” I heard myself say. “Can I help you?”
It was at that moment he looked over at me.
His face could have been sculpted by Da Vinci or Michelangelo. A broad, smooth, forehead housed naturally arched eyebrows I knew some of my gay guy friends would have paid a fortune to have on their own faces. His cheeks were carved from marble, high, smooth and deep. And his mouth, mother-of-God, his mouth. Full, thick beautiful lips sat perfectly over a chin with a dent you could shove a button into and have it stay put.
“Sorry,” he said, those fabulous lips pulling up a little shyly at the corners. “I got stuck at work and couldn’t get here until now. I’ll be quick. Promise.”
So here’s the thing: the guy was gorgeous. But even if he’d looked like a frog with raw antipasto smothering his face, I would have dropped to my knees when he opened his mouth. Warm honey, a shot of raw whiskey, and a little hot puff of smoke wafted from his mouth like a fine and rare brandy being decanted.

“I’d have to kiss you first before I can kiss you again.” The low intimate timbre of his tone sent a prickle over her, tightened her skin.

To disguise the sudden wired sensation in the pit of her stomach, Riley popped the sweet into her mouth, smiled then shrugged. “Well, there’s that.”

Even from the distance of his desk that separated them, Riley noticed the way his gaze dipped to her mouth then darkened as she crunched the chalky sweet.

“C’mere.” His voice, richer, darker, and sexier caressed her.

Riley gulped against the tension constricting her throat; her heart pounded in anticipation as she swallowed the chewed candy. “I don’t think that would be wise, Sam.”

“I’m not asking you to be wise, Riley. I’m asking you to come over here.”

“Why? Do you need me to look at something in that file you were reading?” She kept a playful smile in place as she thought of a way to ease out of yet another potentially awkward moment she’d created with Sam. She was pretty sure she’d make a fool of herself if she closed the space between them.

“Riley.” Her insides liquefied whenever he said her name with such command. “Come here.” With that rusty edge to his usually smooth voice, she couldn’t help but obey.

She slowly pushed to her feet and, on shaky legs, she moved around the desk toward him. “Sam?”

He stood, closed the remaining space between them. “Say my name again.”

“Sam…” This time it came out breathy and needy. No matter how hard she tried, Riley just couldn’t fight the attraction that had been tormenting her for longer than she cared to admit. She fancied Sam from the moment she first met him that morning almost three months ago as they both set off to work.

She raised her chin, met his gaze knowing he’d see desire in hers. The air between them pulsated. This time she made no attempt to hide her need.

“You’re incredibly distracting, do you know that?” Sam’s finger grazed her cheek, followed the curve and warmed her skin.

Dish The Pie With Monique and Guest...Maureen L. Bonatch #CandyHeartsRomance #ValentinesDay and Peanut Butter #Pie

Dish The Pie With Monique and Maureen L. Bonatch

Today on Dish The Pie I have Maureen L. Bonatch, a fellow author in the new Candy Hearts Romance series from The Wild Rose Press. Forget Me Not is released today! Congrats, Maureen, I can’t wait to hear a little more about Forget Me Not, but first I need an answer to my most pressing question...

Do you like desserts? What is your favourite and would you share the recipe with us?

Maureen: Yes! Who doesn’t? One of my favourite desserts is peanut butter pie and I will gladly share the recipe with you. It’s so easy, and delicious! (I must confess- I adore peanut butter!)

Monique: Yumbo! So do I! Quick, give us the recipe!

Photo: Maureen L. Bonatch

Peanut Butter Pie

1 chocolate pie crust
1 8 ounce cream cheese (softened)
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon butter (softened)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 12 ounce Cool Whip
Created by Crystal Swan for Dish The Pie With Monique

In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, peanut butter, sugar and butter until smooth. Add vanilla and mix well.
Fold in ½ to ¾ of the container of Cool Whip. Spoon the mixture into the crust and then spread the remainder of the Cool whip on top.
Refrigerate.

Monique: Have you ever eaten pie for breakfast? If so, what was it?

Maureen:  Yes. Most recently it was a piece of this peanut butter pie since I made one to get a nice picture for all of you.

Monique: LOL! And delicious it looks too! Can’t wait to try this pie. Maureen, how important is humour to you?

Maureen: Very important. I incorporate it into my everyday and my writing. Life is stressful and serious most of the time, it’s helpful to be able to laugh. I’m drawn to people with a sense of humour. They make living life more fun.

Monique: I tend to like the zany types too. How often do you laugh?

Maureen: I try to laugh everyday. Either with my family or the people I spend my time with, a good movie or the books I love to read.

Monique: Laughter therapy is the best therapy. So, you must like films that make you laugh. Which movie is your all-time favourite? The one you watch so often you know every line?

Maureen: This is a hard question, but to choose an all-time favourite, I’d say My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I’m so excited that a second movie is being made for release in March. I can’t wait to revisit this hilarious family.

Monique: I do agree that this is a good film. Good choice. Which type of music do you like? Do you have a favourite artist? Does your music tastes ever change?

Maureen: I love music. Depending upon my mood, I listen to different types and have a long list of favourite artists. I enjoy listening to metal as much as I enjoy what I’d consider dance music, alternative, oldies and occasionally jazz. The only music I don’t really care for is country, although once in awhile a song will catch my ear.

Monique: You’re my second guest who doesn’t like country. How is such a thing possible? I love country… I love Josh Turner… surely, he can turn anyone on to country?

Okay, enough about pie and crushes... or is that just me? Tell us about your new release, Maureen.
Forget Me Not
A Candy Hearts Romance

The car accident totaled Sabrina Post’s convertible and reinvented her memories. She can't recall dumping Cole Dawson ten years ago. What her new clairvoyant visions tell Sabrina is he’s her husband. Any practical girl would question her sanity. But if Sabrina wants to make this imaginary future a reality, she'll have to regain Cole’s trust and eliminate her rival, the coffee shop waitress who’s pegged Cole as husband #4. To prove she’s foreseen their destiny, Sabrina stirs Cole’s interest by revealing specifics about him she couldn’t have otherwise known. Unfortunately, the one detail he vividly remembers is the pain when she left him and their "rinky-dink" town in her rearview mirror.

If Cole can't believe she's a changed woman, can Sabrina accept the only second chance she has at love exists in her memories?

The boxes of candy hearts Julie forgot spilled across the floor.

Cole hunkered down and gathered the papers. His mouth formed a hard line as he glanced at Sabrina’s leave paperwork with the end date prominently circled. He replaced it on the table under the keys.

“No really, I can do it. You stay, Cole. I’ll be right back.” Sabrina caught her reflection in the mirror on the wall. The quest for a coat resulted in her hair looking as if she’d stuck her finger into an electrical outlet. Her appearance matched her desperation. She ran her hands over her head, but the static filled strands resisted smoothing.

“I need to check on Dad anyway, and it’s on my way. I’ll take Josie.” Cole extended his elbow, and Josie latched on like a lifeline, her fingers digging into the leather of his jacket. She skittered across a few of the remaining candies, crushing Be Mine and Love Me on the floor. “Thanks again for dinner, Marge.”

“Cole wait.” Despair leaked into Sabrina’s plea.

He glanced toward the papers on the table and sighed. “I waited for years, Rena. It’s you who waited too long.”

As the door closed behind him, so did the future with Cole that she’d imagined. Her shoulders fell. She knelt to collect the candy hearts scattered on the floor. Forget Me Not and Hug Me taunted her with their cheerful words. Lacking a garbage bag, she shoved a handful of the candies into her jacket pocket. Several hearts were trodden into tiny pieces, like her own.

He carried her to her room, torn between wanting to hurry and get her soft body out of his arms yet yearning to hold her close for a while longer. With her honey-blonde hair, sassy smile, and wide chestnut eyes he had a tough time not falling for her all over again.
He laid her on the bed atop the covers. What was it about her that tangled his emotions? She was just a woman. There were a billion of them out there, so why her?
As he attempted to pull back, Robyn clung.
“Joe?”
Man, that soft husk was too much for him to take so soon after holding her in his arms for the five minutes it’d taken him to ease her out of the car and carry her—surrounded by her light sexy perfume—to her room.
“Yeah?” He tried to unhook her arms from around his neck, but she wouldn’t comply.
“Kiss me.” She exhaled a slow, shattered breath.
Everything in Joe stilled. Even the atmosphere in Robyn’s room paused.
It was the jet lag talking. He knew this, and should walk away. So why couldn’t he make his feet move? And why was fastening his lips to Robbie’s the only prominent thought in his mind?
“You don’t mean that.”
“Yes, I do.” Her soft reply prodded at his self-control, close to poking a hole right through. “I’ve wanted it all evening.”
Oh, man!
He wanted it, too. Did that make him pathetic? But he couldn’t kiss her. This was Robbie—the one woman he wanted. Joe wasn’t entirely sure he’d be able to stop once he started.
“Just one, Joe.”

#New #VDay #Novella You Don't Get Joe! #CoverReveal & Blurb. #RomanticComedy #Reunion #RomanceReaders

Hello true and faithful reader--yep, I'm speaking to my one reader

As you probably noticed from the word count metre over there on the right, I've got another story ready for you. This one is a Valentine's novella entitled You Don't Get Joe! which is scheduled for release next week. I thought you might like to see the cover and blurb. In a couple of days, I'll post an excerpt. For now, please meet Robyn Dare and Joe Langford, my latest reunion story for Valentine's Day.

BACK COVER COPY

A lot can happen in six days!

There’s no secret that New York columnist Robyn (Robbie) Dare hates Valentine’s Day. So when her editor assigns her the task of writing a column about V-Day, she advises her readers to skip it. Dubbed The Valentine Hater, at least one person is out for blood, leaving Robbie little choice but to beat a hasty retreat back to her family in the UK. It wouldn’t be so bad, if heartthrob Joe Langford wasn’t right on hand to welcome her back. She used to have a thing for Joe. So did her sister. Five years ago, Robyn pretended to choose her career and walked away, leaving the path to Joe clear for her sister, but she always regretted her decision.

There was a time when Joe longed to rectify the mistake he made when he let the woman he loved walk out of his life. Now she’s back and bringing a heap of trouble with her. Good thing Joe likes trouble. He isn’t sure how this mess will turn out, but one thing Joe knows for sure, skipping Valentine’s Day just might be the best thing Robbie ever did!
